This elegant room takes its name from Santa Rosalia: a saint venerated throughout Sicily and the patroness of Palermo.
Received as a lady at the court of Queen Margherita, wife of William I of Sicily, Rosalia stood out among her contemporaries for her beauty and elegance, drawing the attention of many noblemen.
A woman of courage and conviction, Rosalia chose a life of hermitage, withdrawing from the splendour of court life to a cave that became a destination of endless pilgrimage.
Proclaimed a Saint in 1624, legend has it that she saved Palermo from the plague, becoming, from that day on, its patron saint.
