The “infiorata” is a festival held in Noto on the third Sunday of May. The infiorata artists use flowers with various nuances of colours to create elaborate designs on the street leading up to churches. They first sketch the design on the floor in chalk and then fill it in with flower petals. The entire town of Noto takes part in these wonderful creations of flowers carpet.
This is a famous “flower carpet” that covers Corrado Nicolaci Street.
The designs are inspired by a single theme that is chosen every year. The carpet, about 700 square meters, requires the use of about 400,000 flowers, including daisies (mostly), roses, carnations and various wild flowers of which the countryside is full in the month of May.
